Background of Clinical Indications
It is used for the auxiliary diagnosis of hepatobiliary disorders and other diseases. Increased γ-GT is more common in patients with primary or metastatic hepatic disorders. Serum γ-GT is moderately or highly increased in patients with obstructive jaundice; γ-GT is highly or extremely increased in patients with hepatitis; serum γ-GT is slightly increased in patients with acute viral hepatitis and alcoholic hepatic disease, etc. It can also be seen in patients with fatty liver, schistosomiasis, acute hepatic blood flow disorder, drug-induced liver disease, infectious mononucleosis, diabetes, pancreatitis, acute myocardial infarction, nephropathy, and hematoporphyrin etc.
